Summary

The primary responsibility of the Underwriter is to assure that loans made by Cherry Creek Mortgage Co., Inc. (‘CCMC’) are reviewed and approved in accordance with agency, investor and CCMC credit and property guidelines so as to limit financial risk. CCMC expects each Underwriter to maintain current knowledge of these guidelines, as well as fraud and ‘red flags’ detection methods and internal compliance requirements, as defined by the Compliance Department.

Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Candidates must have a minimum of 5-7 years of strong frontline experience including both the use of AUS systems and manual underwriting of conventional and government loans
  • Mortgage banking experience with a correspondent lender that deals with multiple investor relationships
  • Underwrite residential loans (FHA, VA, USDA and conventional), ensuring compliance with appropriate company and secondary market investor standards and overlays
  • Examine loan documentation for accuracy and completeness and work with loan originators and production staff to secure all required documentation
  • Communicate your underwriting decisions (approval, suspense or denial) to the appropriate individuals within the organization
  • Responsible for ensuring turn times, quality and branch satisfaction benchmarks are achieved

Level I Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Requires a minimum of 3 years of industry experience with FNMA and FHLMC loans
  • Underwriter Authority: Conventional up to conforming county loan limits

Level II Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Requires 3 to 5 years of industry experience and holding of FHA approved CHUMs ID#.
  • Underwriter Authority: Conventional up to conforming county loan limits

Level III Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Requires 5 or more years of industry experience and holding of FHA approved CHUMS ID# and VA approved SAR/LAPP

Level IV Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Requires 5 or more years of industry experience and holding of FHA approved DE Underwriter and VA Approved SAR/LAPP
  • Underwriter Authority: Conventional jumbos up to $1,000,000; FHA high balance up to county loan limits; jumbo VA loans

  • Excellent attention to detail
